About Prayer
Christians believe that God is like a good Father – actively interested in what’s going on with his children. In prayer, we talk with God, to unburden ourselves about those things which we might not feel comfortable telling others, to ask his help, and to listen to what he has to say to us. Sometimes he helps us by intervening in a situation in unexpected ways. At other times, he prompts us to do things ourselves. On some occasions, the situation itself may not change, but He changes our understanding of what is happening, and helps us grow and learn through it.
It might seem odd, but Christians believe in a very matter-of-fact way that God hears us when we speak (and even that he knows our thoughts … saying them out loud is useful mainly to us!)
You don’t have to be a Christian to pray to God. But it is difficult to know who you’re talking to. One of the most valuable things that Jesus did for us was to show us the character of God, and that He is the friend of those who humbly address him.
Prayer at Glenunga
We pray, not just personally, but as a group. We do this formally at least twice in the week:
- At 9:45 am on Sunday in the creche at the back of the main hall (before the kids arrive).
- At 4:30 pm on Monday.
We’d be pleased to have you join in.
